Warrants - Faliure to Appear
Arrest Warrants / Failure to Appear - Orange County, California Defense Attorneys

When a defendant fails to appear (called an "FTA") in court, the judge issues a bench warrant for that person's arrest. At the time the warrant is issued, the judge will usually set bail. Arrest warrants do not disappear with time - they must be dealt with or they can cause problems years down the line.

As experienced California defense attorneys we know exactly what documents and information the court requires to resolve the situation, and can explain to the judge the reasons for the failure to appear, or the violation, that resulted in the warrant. If a warrant has been issued, either recently or in the past, please contact us today! We can help to get the warrant recalled - often with a reduction in bail, bond and fees. When a judge orders a bench warrant, it is entered into the Department of Justice computer system. If you are stopped by a police officer, a systems check by your California driver's license number will reveal the warrant and you will be arrested and brought before the Court.

  • If the warrant was issued for a Failure to Appear related to a misdemeanor charge, our attorneys can help to get the warrant recalled and set a pre-trial date with the District Attorney - often without your presence being required.

  • If the warrant was issued for a Failure to Appear related to a felony charge, you must be present in order to recall the bench warrant. Our attorneys can help to represent you by arguing against bail, or for a reduction in bail; we will also fight to keep you from being taken into custody and can help you to start your defense against the initial felony charges.

If a bench warrant has been issued for you, or a loved one, ignoring the warrant will not make it go away; police agencies are now using sophisticated computer systems that make finding you easier and easier, and often associate warrants with addresses, vehicles, and telephone numbers. Please contact our experienced California defense attorneys today! The more quickly you contact us, the more quickly we can get started on preparing your defense and securing the best possible outcome.
